Welcome to the website of the Wimbledon Whizzers Flyball Team.
To the outsider, Flyball appears
to be a sport for dog-mad people with ball-mad dogs: to the insider, this is confirmed! It involves a relay team of 4 dogs
(with 2 substitutes) jumping over jumps to retrieve a tennis ball, come rain or shine.
This is not purely the
domain of collies: we have room for all sorts, ranging from lumbering labradors, jumping jack russells, lunging lurchers,
galloping greyhounds and careering crossbreeds, with special mini tennis balls for the vertically challenged.
There's
always lots of whooping, cheering and barking (and that's just the handlers). The team spirit is key and we travel around
for competitions against others. Winning is great, but just doing it is so much fun. Come along and see for yourself and don't
forget your dog.

Our training sessions are held on most Saturday mornings from Autumn to Spring - but in the Summer when our teams are
competing at Flyball Tournaments, we switch to Wednesday evenings.
We welcome new dogs to our beginners class,
which is at 11:30am on our Saturday sessions. If you'd like to see if Flyball is right for your dog, come along (with
your dog!) and give it a go. Please have your dog in a flat collar or a snug-fitting harness, and bring a lead, a water-bowl, a
favourite toy (like a ragger or tuggie), and plenty of really tiny treats in a re-sealable container.
We do train
in all weathers - so if it's raining please bring water-proof clothing and appropriate footwear. Also have a dog-towel
for the sake of your car! We will only cancel or curtail training if the condition of the ground makes it unsafe for the dogs.
The training ground is on Wimbledon Common at the Richardson Evans Memorial Playing Fields, Roehampton Vale, London
SW15 3PQ. Access is from the Southbound A3, about 150 yards after the ASDA supermarket. If you are travelling Northbound,
you'll have to pass the entrance, turn off at the ASDA, around the mini-roundabout and back onto the A3 going South. Once
you are in the Car Park, follow the path behind the Pavillion and then right over the little bridge - the field is immediately
on the right. There is limited parking available on the field, but be careful if the ground is soft as cars can and do get
stuck!.
